For precise measurements: Sit in a rested position. Keep your finger on the camera and not on the flashlight. Try to keep your finger still and do not shake the device, while taking the measurement. Blood flow should be visible on the screen.

It is preferable to use a high end mobile phone with flash light or tablet for accurate measurements.

Note:
For cameras without flash light, take measurements in a bright environment. Provide ample lighting to pass through your fingers to the Camera. Blood flow should be visible on the Screen and the screen should be red in color.
